When any occasion to gather arises, we are pleased to offer the perfect location. Whether you are planning a meeting in a classroom setting or an elaborate dinner party for 150, we can provide the style and atmosphere your event requires. On a snowy evening in December, the gigantic stone fireplace in the main lodge sets the tone. Couches in front of the fireplace invite our guests to relax before or after dinner while listening to live piano music played by Javen Swanson on our teak baby grand piano. It all presents a spirit of comfort and warmth. This area is alight with candles and decorated trees including a Christmas tree, which fills the room with the Christmas spirit through New Year's. Step forward from the sitting area and fireplace and you arrive at the 100 feet of glass overlooking Upper Whitefish Lake. There is simply no better view of a lake in Minnesota. It is breathtaking. Some resorts and restaurants claim to have a lovely view which may soothe your soul. However, we believe none surpasses the view from our ridge. Set atop a 40-foot bluff overlooking Upper Whitefish Lake the Main Lodge/Restaurant was designed to showcase the spectacular sights and earns the moniker "Windows on Whitefish". In addition to the extraordinary view, the building itself has many unique attributes. Due to a fire in 1992, which consumed the original Main Lodge, the current structure was built and now stands as a shining example of the abilities of our local craftsmen. Seven and one-half miles of pine cover the walls and ceiling. Seventy-five thousand pounds of native rock were used by Craig Nagel to build the fireplace, which stands twenty-seven feet from floor to ceiling. The fireplace mantle, bar-top, and check-in disk were cut from a 125 year-old Norway pine that had once graced our grounds until it died and fell. To compliment our unique atmosphere and beautiful building, we offer our guests the best cuisine the north woods has to offer. Our food is prepared by our executive chef, Brian Chaffee, from the finest and freshest ingredients. Our menu is extensive and guaranteed to please the most discerning guest. You will be surprised by the variety in both our food and wine list as well. Also, dessert is not something to be overlooked at Piney Ridge; after dinner we invite you to enjoy coffee, cordials, or maybe a cigar under the starts on our patio or by the fire in the Pub. To help plan your event we offer the service of party planners to custom design an event that is fit for your tastes and budget. These are just a few examples of the cuisine available for your dinner party. The list of entrees our kitchen can prepare is endless and includes all tastes and budgets.
